Operon is a pedagogical publishing house operating on the Polish educational publishing market. It offers textbooks for all levels of school education and publications preparing for examinations at the end of primary, secondary, and high school education.

Problem

Although Operon previously had an online store created by another company, he asked us to provide professional support. Our main goal was to increase the number of purchases by optimising the online store. We faced the challenge of taking over the project from another company. Our specialists took care of the platform based on Magento 2. We aimed to solve current problems and implement new functionalities that increase conversion in the store.

Action

We started our activities with an audit of the current solution. We checked store speed, server performance, and store UX. We noticed several problems that directly influenced the user experience and decreased sales.

Increasing shopping cart in the Magento store

While working on improving the sales dynamics in the Operon store, we also wanted to increase the value of the shopping cart. To this end, we have introduced several proven solutions. One of them was information about cart value that qualifies customers to free delivery. It aimed to influence the growth of complementary sales. To meet customer needs better, we have implemented products recommendation in the Operon store. The use of cross-selling and up-selling systems significantly translated into an increase in the value of the shopping cart. Besides, in the Magento online shop, we introduced a unique selling proposition, thanks to which we presented potential customers why it is worth shopping at Operon.

Purchase faster

The product search engine is an extremely important element in the online store. It is especially crucial when having a wide range of products available. We wanted it to be intuitive and immediately noticeable. After completing our work, it not only allowed a customer to find the article they are interested in but also it displays the proposed products and suggests keywords – e.g. the names of the textbooks.

    Properly selected and configured product filters in the Operon store are the basis of its efficient operation. They allow quick reach to a specific category and navigate only within the thematic group we are interested in.

  • Server tailored to the needs of the store

    A badly selected server with the burden of traffic on the site is a big problem. Its size should be adapted to the needs of the online store and developed in parallel with the platform. Changing the server allowed for a significant acceleration of page loading and the operation of the store itself, which significantly translates into the convenience of use and, most importantly, improved sales.

    While working for the Operon brand, we also undertook SEO activities. The optimisation we implemented consisted of, among many, adding a site map and improving structural data, the correct operation which allows the user to see key information, such as product price or description. Thanks to our actions, the search results meet customer needs precisely.

  • Integrations with Magento 2

    Running an online store involves ongoing analysis and properly selected advertising. And although Google Analytics is the basic tool, it turns out to be insufficient when selling on the Internet. This was also the case here, which is why we focused on Enhanced Ecommerce – an extension of the Universal Analytics mode dedicated to the e-commerce industry. Thanks to this, Operon gained the possibility of a more precise analysis of customer behaviour, segmentation of goods, or the average number of orders. Adding Facebook tags resulted in the improvement of advertising activities and the integration with RTB House significantly influenced the number of e-commerce conversions.

Easier store management

We assume that the store is to be friendly not only to the customer but also to the people who manage it. While analysing the current problems, we noticed inconsistencies in the administration of the platform. By introducing functional solutions, we made the operation of the store much easier. Also, we have improved the integration of the Magento store with the ERP system, and the elimination of errors has significantly improved communication between the systems.

Pre-sale is a brilliant IDEA! Something previously impossible in the Operon store has become a real functionality. What is it really about? Before the changes, it was impossible to purchase a product that was out of stock. The implementation of a new solution by us enables displaying and ordering even temporarily missing articles.
